Entry Requirements
We are seeking motivated and talented individuals who have an aptitude for the creative arts as well as a clear and strong commitment to pursuing art and design. Entry selection is primarily based on an applicant's previous academic record (3 C's at Bursary level preferred) and the submission of a portfolio. If English is not a first language, evidence of meeting English language requirements will also be required. For further details contact the School of Art and Design.

Programme Content
This three year degree programme aims to give you a practical, relevant and challenging design education. During your studies you will have the opportunity to develop your creative, intellectual and practical talents, and to acquire both the head and hand skills for a professional design career.

Students enrol in a particular "pathway":

  • Craft Art
  • Interior Design
  • Visual Communication
Over the three years the programme changes from being tightly structured and tutor directed in year one to more student directed and based on independent learning in year three.

At all levels students are encouraged to sustain a programme of general learning alongside specific studio/workshop learning; and to integrate and apply the design knowledge, skills and processes across all subject areas.

    Outcomes
Graduates from this programmes will be able to initiate, develop, and complete creative, innovative, functional and aesthetic solutions to both simple and complex design problems. They will have the necessary skills and knowledge to take up employment with a wide range of design based companies or to undertake freelance work.
