Montana book awards
The Best illustrative Arts and the best first book of non-fiction went to Helen Schamroth's: '100 New Zealand Craft Artists'. Godwit publishers also received the Design award for the book.

The top non-fiction award, the $10,000 Montana medal and the best lifestyle award went to Heather Nicholson's: 'The Living Stitch: a history of knitting and Spinning in New Zealand'. The panel judge said 'The Living Stitch' was just so utterly captivating.

Wonderful news not only for Heather and Helen, but for the whole crafts scene. Two such prestigious awards bring a long awaited focus on our people. Such awards endorse huge creative effort and are lodged in the annuals of time.
Warmest congratulations to Heather and Helen.
