High Street Project is a non-profit artist-run organisation that endeavors
to provide a space and a forum for the work of artists, writers and
curators.
HSP promotes experimental and emergent practise, seeking the involvement of
practitioners from all fields within the visual arts: artist, writers and
curators. HSP aims to promote art practises that engage with contemporary
issues in a critical and challenging way.
Administration
High Street Project is a charitable trust, which employs a coordinator to
administer the programme. It is the intention of HSP that the majority of
board members be practising artists.
Programming Procedure
The programming committee reviews the submitted proposals. Decisions on the
inclusion of a proposal in the programme are arrived at democratically by
the board. Applicants are notified as soon as possible. All decisions are
subject to available funding.
Programme Structure
The details of the programme proposal will be made available to successful
applicants.
Project Costs
HSP endeavors to cover all the costs of delivering the programme. Any costs
incurred in the production, installation, maintenance and documentation of
the project are the responsibility of the practitioner.
Fees
The High Street Project endeavors where possible to provide a fee. This is
however dependent on the funding received for each series.
Publicity
HSP has an established and growing media network. Projects are publicised
through print, radio and the web. HSP attract regular media
interest. Currently HSP has approximately 300 people on its mailing list.
HSP requires press release material prior to the project and documentation
following it. Additional publicity is the responsibility of the artist.
Online Documentation
The High Street Project encourages the submission of content for the wwweb
as either a project or as documentation.
Quicktime or MP3 formats in addition to regular text and images are
welcome. Proposals to host webwork will be considered on their merit and
the size constraints of the High Street Project website.
Insurance and Liability
As a small non-profit organisation, High Street Project is unable to
cover loss/theft, damage, or injury. We suggest arranging appropriate cover
to meet your needs.
Sale and Commission
It is not the responsibility of HSP to administer any financial
transactions for artists, writers or curators other than fees, where due.
Equipment
HSP has a basic assortment of hand-tools and materials.
Proposals requirements
The programming committee requires:
1. A current C.V.(include exhibitions/ publications/ education/ reviews etc)
2. An exhibition proposal including physical and conceptual descriptions.
Clearly define the nature of the project and state any special
requirements.
3. Support Material - visual and audio documentation (slides, photographs,
laser-copies, video and audio tape or disk) of previous work.
