Pacific Vertical No 7
Pacific Vertical No 7 is a part of a body of small scale works developed over a number of years from an exploration of the relationship of human-made boundaries with naturally occuring forms. These land/object, object/land explorations have followed aerial studies and records of large scale installations on the boulder bank Nelson at the geographical centre of Aotearoa/New Zealand.

Two stones in nests of elm bark.
Vivienne Mountfort
Forest Sentinel 1996
This work was inspired by an old kauri giant growing in the Waipoua kauri forest.
It is woven on a ply wooden disc in handspun New Zealand wool. This is a technique I have used for many years.

Hollow Form - Textured Black
Ash vase hollow turned to even thickness/thinness. Areas of texture applied and the whole work blackened.
The aim of the piece is to draw the eye to the form without the distraction of timber colour, and to see the balance between the natural texture of the grain of the wood and the imposed texture.

Homage to Matisse - The Dream
This tapestry is an interpretation of a collage derived by myself from two images, a black and white photograph of Henri Matisse and a coloured reproduction of his painting of a sleeping girl 'The Dream'. The images were cut into strips and placed alternately alongside each other. The resulting tapestry is the second work in my 'Homage Series'.

After the Fire, Out Back of Beyond 1
One of a set of three works based on drawings done midsummer, at 1770 in Queensland, 1995.

Rata Cobweb I
This work uses the transluscent effect gained by my technique for handspinning 16 micron Merino wool to increase the value scale for this design of Rata blossom and fern. It is hand-knitted on size 1.5mm needles and the cobweb is suspended in a Matai wood frame made by Charles Boyle of Christchurch. The cord is hand plaited linen.

Vessel Brooches
These vessel brooches are some of what could be described as my 'bread and butter' pieces. I think people are attracted to their 3-D quality, - the light play created by the gold leaf, and their overall simplicity.

Whanaunga (Tangata)
Whanaunga (Tangata) is about connections.
Whanau = Family
Whakapapa = Ancestors (Tupuna)
Whenua = Land
Te Matua Kare = Heavens
Nga Atua = Guardians of Mankind
Being in two dominions the physical and the spiritual.
