Matou Derivative
This is a form made from stoneware clay mixed with local river sand and salt-glazed in a wood fired kiln. The coiling method was used in its making . Examples of salt-glazed larger stoneware sculptural forms are quite rare - terracotta is the usual medium for these. The form is derived as an abstraction from the matou or fish hook form.

Kath Des Forges
Cultural Sensitivity
Strip-pieced thai silk, overstitched with straight stitch. I have used colours as symbols to represent the many races that make up our multi-cultural society, from the pale European through to the dark skins of our Native races, with the Irish, Indian and Asian groups represented by green, terracotta and gold.
