	Taranaki List Artists Sally Laing Bush Moon - Bush Series Brooch This brooch is one of my Bush Series - inspired by the forms, colour and light of our native flora. Fine silver is first embossed and engraved. The enamel is then built up in layers, adding 18ct gold wire, 24ct gold foil and fine transparent coloured enamel to attain depth of image. The piece is fired several times to achieve this. The handmade 18ct gold rivets, while being part of the image are also functional in that they hold sterling silver pin plates onto the back of the brooch. To finish the piece the enamel is etched and polished and a double stainless steel pin is put on the back. Although part of a thematic series, no two brooches are ever the same, making each piece unique.
